David Jackson: Boy With No Nose
Are either of you aware of David Jackson? He was born with a nose but lost it to (I believe) an infected sand flea bite when he was just a tiny baby and then was relinquished to a South American hospital where they did not have the facilities to do anything for the next 4 years.
Then, at age 4 he went to Glasgow Scottland where Dr Ian Jackson began his reconstruction.
Eventually Dr Jackson and his wife adopted this child and Margaret Jackson wrote the book, "The Boy David", which chronicled his repair and the total construction of his nose, palate, cheekbones and upper lip. During the repairs the family moved to Michigan were his father practices with a team, and as far as I know, David is still having repairs done. My guess now is that David is around age 20 or thereabouts. Maybe you can make a connection with him. There is an 800 number that distributes the book - they may be able to put you in touch with David as well. The number is 1-800-423-5801.
