Lord,
Let me not hold back my tears
but let them freely flow
as the release of my sorrow.
May your tender mercy
ease the pain of my heart
and heal its wounds.

Take my "might-have-beens"
and place them gently aside
in my life's journey
as way stations
I have left behind...
And after grieving
may I look to new days
in glad hope.

Let the meaning gather,
let me be deepened
tendered
tempered.

Let the judgmental spirit in me
be broken
as the bread is broken
for me.
