TO MY SON'S FIRST TEACHER
by Joanne Green
I took my baby by the hand
And brought him to your care.
And with a Mom's anxiety,
I bravely left him there.
Would you understand he's special,
And that others can be cruel??
Yes, and you help me learn
The 'one-in-thirty' rule.
He learned to stand on strawberries,
Make a line and share the toys,
And to eagerly look forward to
Those other girls and boys.
Numbers, colors, letters,
And important Holidays,
You nurtured thirty little minds
One hundred eighty days.
And now we want to thank you
For a year that we enjoyed.
I brought to you my baby,
And you gave me back my boy.
