Kirt Simmons DDS PhD
Since 1992, Dr. Simmons has been the orthodontic consultant to Wide Smiles. He is also the dental consultant to the MAGIC Foundation - a parent support group for parents of children with statural disorders.

Dr. Simmons was an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. Dr. Simmons has taught courses in craniofacial growth and development, dental pharmacology, surgical orthodontics, and oral-pharyngeal function. He was the orthodontic consultant on the UNC Craniofacial Deformities Team and was responsible for the treatment of these patients at UNC. He has conducted research on craniofacial abnormalities, bone physiology, dental implants (including their response to orthodontics force), orthodontic pain, endocrine disorders, and TMJ. He had research collaborations with the Department of Endocrinology in the UNC School of Medicine and was studying the effects of hormone therapy on facial and dental growth.
